A safe shop is a productive shop. Every person in our facility follows these guidelines — no exceptions.
Our Safety Commitment
Safety is the foundation of everything we do at Dynamic Arts Makerspace. Every member, client, and visitor is expected to follow our safety protocols. We maintain our equipment to the highest standards, provide proper training before equipment use, and foster a culture where everyone looks out for each other. No project is worth compromising anyone's wellbeing.
PPE Requirements
- ✓Eye protection required for all machine operations
- ✓Hearing protection required for loud equipment
- ✓Dust masks required for sanding and CNC operations
- ✓Closed-toe shoes required at all times in the shop
- ✓No loose clothing or jewelry near rotating equipment
- ✓Long hair must be tied back
Equipment Certification Levels
Green — Basic
Equipment: Hand tools, drill press, sanders
Requirement: 30-minute orientation + quiz
Yellow — Intermediate
Equipment: Miter saw, router, 3D printer, laser cutter, vinyl cutter
Requirement: 2-hour hands-on training + demo
Red — Advanced
Equipment: CNC router, table saw, welding, combination machine
Requirement: 4-hour training + supervised project + annual renewal
Emergency Procedures
- ✓Emergency stop buttons on all major equipment
- ✓First aid station stocked and inspected monthly
- ✓Eye wash station accessible within 10 seconds of any work area
- ✓Fire extinguishers throughout the facility
- ✓Call 911 for all medical and fire emergencies
Guest & Visitor Policy
- ✓All visitors must be accompanied by a staff member at all times
- ✓A brief safety orientation is required before entering the shop floor
- ✓PPE will be provided for all visitors
