Custom Vinyl + Heat Press (Make & Take)
Choose from pre-made designs, add custom text, cut in vinyl, weed, and heat press onto your own shirt, tote, or whatever you bring.
Age requirement: 18+
About This Class
Pick a design, add your own text, and walk out wearing it. Choose from a library of pre-made vector graphics, combine them with custom text (your name, a phrase, a date, whatever you want) and we'll cut the design in professional heat transfer vinyl on our Graphtec cutting plotter. You'll learn to weed your design (peel away the excess vinyl), then press it onto whatever you brought using our commercial heat press. This is a Make & Take session, not a full equipment certification class. You'll follow guided steps to produce a finished custom item, but you won't be operating the cutter or software independently. Bring a t-shirt, tote bag, hoodie, hat, pillowcase, apron — anything made of cotton, polyester, or cotton-poly blend. If you're not sure whether your item will work, bring it anyway and we'll figure it out together.
What You'll Learn
Welcome + overview of the process (10 min) — Design selection: students browse the pre-made vector library on screen or printed lookbook, pick their graphic(s), and specify custom text (20 min) — Instructor builds each student's layout in Illustrator / Cutting Master 5 and sends to the Graphtec (15 min, batch while students watch) — Weeding demonstration then students weed their own designs (25 min, this is the hands-on core) — Heat press demo then each student presses their item one at a time (30 min, ~3-4 min per student including positioning) — Cool, peel, admire, cleanup (10 min)
What to Bring
YOUR OWN ITEM TO PRESS ONTO — t-shirt, tote bag, hoodie, hat, pillowcase, apron, or any fabric item made of cotton, polyester, or cotton-poly blend. We do not provide blank garments. Bring one or two items to be safe.
